T-Birds Acquire Liam Hughes From Oil Kings
Seattle sends fourth round pick in 2019 to Edmonton
KENT, September 18, 2017 — Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell today announced the team has acquired goalie Liam Hughes from the Edmonton Oil Kings in exchange for a fourth round selection in the 2019 Bantam Draft.
“We are happy to add Liam to our team,” said Farwell. “He had good start in the league last year before being injured. He will be a solid addition at a very key position.”
Hughes has played in two preseason games this year and has a 0-1-0-0 record 4.19 goals against average and a .889 save percentage. Last season Hughes appeared in seven games with the Oil Kings and had a 1-4-2-0 record with a 3.26 goals against and a .895 save percentage.
The WHL Champion T-Birds start the 2017-18 Western Hockey League regular season against the Tri-City Americans on Saturday, September 23 at 7:05pm at the ShoWare Center.
