Season High Sellout Crowd Sees T-Birds Battle But Fall To Tips
Seattle plays Prince George Sunday at 5:05pm at accesso ShoWare Center
KENT, February 8, 2020 — A season high sellout crowd of 6,190 fans at accesso ShoWare Center Saturday night saw the Seattle Thunderbirds battle the Everett Silvertips in hard fought contest. The Silvertips took the game 5-2.
The T-Birds play the Prince George Cougars on Sunday at 5:05pm at accesso ShoWare Center. Single game tickets are on sale online on the T-Birds website and at the accesso ShoWare Center box office.
Seattle is now 20-24-3-3 and in the second Wild Card playoff spot in the Western Conference seven points ahead of the Prince George Cougars. The T-Birds are four points behind the Kelowna Rockets (23-24-1-2) for the first Wild Card playoff spot.
Everett took a 1-0 lead on a shorthanded goal by Jake Christiansen at 16:10 of the first period.
Seattle answered back 28 seconds after Everett scored with a power-play goal by Jared Davidson. Davidson took a pass from Owen Williams in the neutral zone on the right wing. Davidson beat a Silvertips defenseman along the wall, skated into the right circle and took a wrist shot. Davidson’s shot hit Everett goalie Dustin Wolf, dropped to the ice and slid into the net.
The Silvertips took a 2-1 leads on a goal by Kasper Puutio at 5:55 of the second period.
Everett went in front 4-1 in the second on goals by Cole Fonstad at 10:40 and Brendan Lee at 11:40.
Conner Roulette cut the Everett lead to two goals at 15:45 of the third period. Roulette forced a turnover with a good check left corner of the defensive zone. Tyrel Bauer got the puck and fed Lucas Ciona on the right wing while Roulette skated hard up the left wing. Ciona hit Roulette at the blue line and he skated into the left circle and beat Everett goalie Braden Holt with a slap shot for his 16th goal of the season.
Seattle pulled goalie Blake Lyda with 2:22 left in the game for an extra attacker. They forced Holt to make several saves but Christiansen was able to hit the empty net with 57 seconds left in the game.
The T-Birds are now taking orders for Flex-24 Ticket packages. Fans that purchase the 24-Flex Ticket Package will be able to select any available premium seat for any game, in any ticket combination, during the 2019-20 season.
