Q It Up Sports To Mic Up T-Birds Player
T-Birds social media to pick which player wears wireless mic during game against Kamloops
KENT, January 17, 2011 — A select Seattle Thunderbirds player will wear a wireless microphone and be filmed during the game on Tuesday, January 18, against the Kamloops Blazers for a special segment on Q It Up Sports on Sunday, January 23.
Q It Up Sports is a half hour sports show hosted by Aaron Levine that airs every Sunday on Joe TV (KZJO 22) at 9:30pm and on Q13 (KCPQ 13) at 10:30pm.
“Aaron contacted us recently about doing something similar to the very popular 24/7 Capitals/Penguins: Road to the Winter Classic HBO series,” said T-Birds Director of Public Relations, Ian Henry. “We thought this was a great idea and worked with Aaron to make it happen. We chose the Kamloops game because it coincides with our very popular 2-For-Tuesday promotion.”
“As part of this behind the scenes feature we have agreed to let our fans have a say through social media on who they think should wear the wireless microphone during the game,” continued Henry. “Our fans should go to the T-Birds Facebook and Twitter pages to let us know who they think should be mic’ed up for this special feature.”
The T-Birds popular 2-for-Tuesday promotion includes 2-for-1 tickets and $2 hot dogs, $2 popcorn, $2 sodas and $2 beers at the game. At each Tuesday game the T-Birds also give out a State Farm Player Magnet to the first 2,500 fans through the doors. Colin Jacobs is the T-Bird on the State Farm Player Magnet for the game against the Blazers.
“We have had very sizeable crowds at our Tuesday games so far this season,” said Henry. “We hope a large crowd on Tuesday will help contribute to the success of this feature.”
Fans can purchase 2-for-1 tickets for the game against the Blazers on the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday game days at 10 a.m. and Sunday game days at noon.
