Former T-Bird Patrick Marleau Establishes New NHL Record For Games Played
Kent, April 19, 2021 – Ian Henry talked with VP of Hockey Operations Russ Farwell and Director of Operations Rick Ronish about former T-Bird Patrick Marleau, who established a new NHL record for Games Played on Monday in Las Vegas.

Marleau played in his 1,768th NHL Game on Monday, passing hockey legend Gordie Howe.
Marleau played for the T-Birds in the 1995-96 and 1996-97 seasons. He had 83 goals and 116 assists for 199 points in 143 games as a T-Bird. Marleau was selected second overall by the San Jose Sharks in the 1997 NHL Draft.
Marleau is in his 23rd season in the NHL and has played for the San Jose Sharks, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Pittsburgh Penguins. Marleau has 566 goals and 630 assists for 1196 points in his NHL career.
Farwell was the T-Birds General Manager when Marleau played on the team. Ronish is a long-time T-Bird employee who was in charge of the team’s ticketing and operations when Marleau was a T-Bird. Farwell and Ronish reminisced with Henry about Marleau’s time with the T-Birds and had several good stories in this video.

The T-Birds honored Marleau prior to a game on March 8, 2016, as part of the WHL’s 50th Anniversary Season celebration. Marleau received the WHL Professional Hockey Alumni Achievement Award. While he couldn’t be in attendance to receive the award in person due to the Sharks schedule, he did record a message for T-Birds fans that was played prior to the game.
