T-Birds Announce 2019 Training Camp Schedule
Training Camp ends with Future Showcase and Blue White Game
KENT, August 7, 2019 — The Seattle Thunderbirds are excited to announce their Training Camp schedule for the 2019-20 season. Training Camp will take place at accesso ShoWare Center.
This year we have two new features to our Training Camp Schedule. The first, on the last day of Training Camp, there will be two full length games. At 1pm on August 24 we will have the Future Showcase, a full length 60-minute game featuring mainly 2003 and 2004 birth year T-Birds prospects. Then at 6pm the annual Blue White Game, consisting of T-Birds prospects and returning veterans, will conclude Training Camp.
The teams in both of these games on August 24 will be wearing T-Birds white and blue game jerseys, unlike prior scrimmages which will feature team branded practice jerseys.
The second new feature is that, when Training Camp opens on Tuesday, August 20, the scrimmages at accesso ShoWare Center, will be between four teams made up of T-Birds returning players, prospects and free agents.
In the morning of August 20 Team Grey plays Team White at 9am and Team Blue plays Team Green at 10:30am. In the second session of the day Team Grey plays Team Blue at 3:30pm and Team Green plays Team White at 5pm.
Training Camp continues on Wednesday, August 21, and Thursday, August 22, with four scrimmages each day between the four teams.
On Wednesday morning Team White plays Team Blue at 9am and Team Green plays Team Grey at 10:30am. The second session on Wednesday features Team Blue vs. Team Green at 3:30pm and Team White vs. Team Grey at 5pm.
On Thursday morning Team Grey faces Team Blue at 9am and Team Green takes on Team White at 10:30am. The afternoon session starts with Team Green vs. Team Grey at 3:30pm and ends with Team White vs. Team Blue at 5pm.
The four teams will play a Bonze Medal Game on Friday, August 23, at 11am, followed by a Gold Medal Game at 1:30pm.
Training Camps ends with the two 60 minute games on Saturday, August 24. At 1pm at accesso ShoWare Center we will have the Future Showcase. Then at 6pm the annual Blue White Game will conclude Training Camp. All Training Camp scrimmages, the Future Showcase, and the Blue White game are open to the public free of charge. Fans attending should enter accesso ShoWare Center from the east side of the building.
The Thunderbirds will play six exhibition games prior to the start of the 2019-2020 regular season.
The T-Birds start the preseason at the Delta Hotels Preseason Classic in Everett. They will play their first game at the Classic against the Vancouver Giants on Friday, August 30, at 11:30am. Classic play will continue the following day as the T-Birds face the Tri-City Americans on August 31 at 3pm. The Classic ends for the T-Birds on Sunday, September 1, as they play the Everett Silvertips at 7pm.
Preseason play continues for the T-Birds at the Red Lion Hotels’ Preseason Tournament at the Toyota Center in Kennewick. The T-Birds will begin the tournament on Friday, September 6, against the Tri-City Americans at 7:05pm. Tournament play will conclude on Saturday, September 7 with a matchup against the Portland Winterhawks at 3pm.
The T-Birds wrap up preseason play with a home game against the Everett Silvertips on Tuesday, September 10, at 7:05pm at accesso ShoWare Center.
The T-Birds start the 2019-20 Western Hockey League regular season against the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday, September 21, at 6:05pm at accesso ShoWare Center.
T-Birds single game tickets for the 2019-20 regular season will go on sale Wednesday, August 21, at 10am online on the T-Birds website and at the accesso ShoWare Center box office.
