KELOWNA, B.C. —<\/strong> The Kelowna Rockets staged a dramatic third period comeback to take Game Four 4-3 in overtime Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

Julius Miettinen opened the scoring just 1:04 into play, crashing the net and cashing in a rebound off a Carter Bear backhander for his eighth of the Playoffs. Matias Vanhanen followed up at 8:47 with a powerplay goal, fielding a point-blank feed from behind the net from Landon DuPont for his seventh of the postseason.<\/p>\n

A Brek Liske snipe at 14:10 in the first period put the Tips up 3-0, chasting Harrison Boettiger from the crease in favor of Josh Banini.<\/p>\n

The Silvertips outshot Kelowna 16-6 in the first and 11-5 in the second.<\/p>\n

Kelowna rallied in the third period, with Tij Iginla tallying a powerplay goal at 7:54. Hiroki Gojsic capitalized on a misplay in front of the net burying his first career playoff goal at 12:11. Kelowna sent the game into overtime with just 7.7 seconds remaining, as Shane Smith pushed a powerplay goal through a netmouth scramble.<\/p>\n

Iginla capped off the comeback 2:30 into overtime, chipping in a loose puck in front.<\/p>\n

Miettinen has now scored in 11 of his last 12 games between regular season and Playoffs.<\/p>\n

KELOWNA, B.C. —<\/strong> The Everett Silvertips survived an early onslaught in Game Three, besting the Kelowna Rockets 4-1 at Prospera Place Tuesday night to take a 3-0 series lead.<\/p>\n

The Tips were outshot 16-4 in the first period as the Rockets sent a heavy forecheck with a tough physical presence. Everett struck first in the second period, as Julius Miettinen generated a turnover behind the Rockets’ net and found Matias Vanhanen open in the slot at 7:45 for Vanhanen’s sixth of the playoffs. Brek Liske then snuck a shot from the boards home just 24 seconds later for a 2-0 Tips advantage.<\/p>\n

Miettinen cashed in with a rebound goal of his own at 16:56, sliding a loose puck through the wickets of netminder Harrison Boettiger for a 3-0 lead after two periods.<\/p>\n

Though Tomas Poletin grabbed a powerplay goal at 5:52 in the third period, a Lukas Kaplan penalty shot goal at 16:24 sealed a 4-1 victory.<\/p>\n

Anders Miller stopped 36 of 37 in the win.<\/p>\n

Everett reclaimed the lead 4:20 into the second, as Matias Vanhanen banged in a rebound off a Brek Liske shot for his first of two on the night. Julius Miettinen provided insurance at 16:14, burying a breakaway goal from an impressive Landon DuPont stretch pass.<\/p>\n

Vanhanen contributed an empty-netter with 1:43 remaining in regulation to complete the 4-1 win. Anders Miller stopped 21 of 22 in the victory. The Silvertips’ penalty kill came up clutch, denying all five powerplay attempts.<\/p>\n

EVERETT, Wash. —<\/strong> Shea Busch suffered an upper-body injury on Oct. 29 that threatened his season. Nearly five months to the day, he found himself back in the Everett Silvertips’ lineup just in time for Game Three of the Western Conference Quarterfinal.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was so much fun,” Busch said of his first game back. “I had a smile on my face the whole game. I just missed hockey so much and playing here, being a Silvertip, it means a lot.”<\/p>\n

Being away from the team so long, Busch wanted to focus on simple details and energy for his first shifts back. His approached paid dividends, as he struck for a goal at 5:23 in the third period of Game Three. His presence helped spur the Silvertips to a pair of road victories, sweeping the Portland Winterhawks in four games.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was nice to get a goal in the first game just to kind of be officially ‘back,'” he said. “And I mean, at the end of the day just getting those two wins was great.\u201d<\/p>\n

“That’s a long time without hockey,” noted head coach Steve Hamilton. “It’s not only the time away, it’s five months without practice, five months without being involved in team meetings and video. There’s a lot that’s gone on. And now you’re asking him to just jump in, and I thought he was awesome. His energy, it was so Buschy.”<\/p>\n

The Florida Panthers draftee was tallying over a goal per game in his 12 regular season outings, netting 13 with five assists including his first career hat trick on Oct. 4 against Victoria. His shot, coupled with his physicality brought on with a 6-foot-3, 214-pound frame, was integral to the team’s early-season success.<\/p>\n

His injury sidelined him for months, forcing him off-ice for months. He was not allowed to skate for nearly eight weeks prior to his surgery and for another two weeks post-surgery. After spending seemingly an eternity at his home in Vancouver, B.C., Busch finally got the clearance he was hoping for.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was on a zoom call with [Silvertips athletic trainer] Blake Draughon and the doctor,” Busch explained, “and I was just hoping she was going to say that my wrist was all good to go. Right as I got the green light from her, I was just pumped. I drove down right away, and it\u2019s just been so nice getting back in with the guys and just being back in the mix.”<\/p>\n

Busch could not have been more eager to get back to playing hockey. \u201cI went out here and there with a couple Everett youth teams and practiced with them when nobody was really around just because I just wanted to get on the ice. It was nice to get that feeling again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not only did Busch have to get back into game shape after his hiatus, he also had to prepare to jump into intensely physical playoff hockey.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor me being a bigger guy on the team, I always want to be physical. I did a lot of hard bag skates when I was at home, I didn\u2019t want to come back here cold turkey. It\u2019s playoff hockey. It\u2019s definitely a step up from the regular season so you\u2019ve always got to be ready to go.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy trainer back home, he\u2019s so great,” Busch continued. “I worked out hard three days a week. He killed my legs every week, just to get stronger. I feel like my legs got bigger, so that\u2019s been nice and I feel good on the ice. He helped me a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n

“If there’s one thing to know about Shea,” praised Hamilton, “he did a lot of work when no one was watching. He did a lot of work to get himself well-conditioned. All he was waiting for was the green light from the surgeon. To be able to come in at that pace this time of year and make an impact, that says a lot about him.”<\/p>\n

Busch’s motor is a big reason why he saw success in the 2025 WHL Playoffs, leading all WHL rookies in first-round goals with five against Seattle.<\/p>\n

\u201cGetting back into my first couple shifts my first couple games, I want to be physical and just get back into it, get the adrenaline going again. Shooting the puck I feel like is a big part of my game and for Everett. We always want to get shots on net too, so I\u2019m always trying to do that, see how many shots I can get per period.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fortunately, Busch said he hasn\u2019t faced too much of a learning curve despite the absence. \u201cOur systems hadn\u2019t changed that much but there were a couple things [Coach Hamilton] had to guide me through and show me on the whiteboard. At the end of the day you just got to go out there and play hockey.”<\/p>\n

“That was my first time being on the ice with Rylan Gould,” he joked. “It\u2019s crazy sometimes it feels like I\u2019ve been out for five months and other times it doesn\u2019t.”<\/p>\n

Longterm injuries can be mentally challenging on any athlete. Busch\u2019s optimism for his return is what got him through his 5 months of injury. \u201cI just tried to keep an open mind and only stay positive through things. It\u2019s easy to look at the negatives but just knowing that you\u2019re going to be back at some point… I came back at the best time of the year, so can\u2019t complain at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

EVERETT, Wash. —<\/strong> Everett Silvertips defensemen Landon DuPont and Tarin Smith have been named finalists for the Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy for Western Hockey League Defenseman of the Year.<\/p>\n

DuPont, an ’09-born Calgary, AB native, led Silvertip defenders in scoring with 18 goals and 55 assists for 73 total points in 63 games played. He contributed 31 points on the powerplay, while also leading the team with 283 shots on goal- an average of 4.5 per game. Defensively, DuPont finished as a +59- fourth-best amongst all skaters in the WHL. He earned CHL Rookie of the Year honors<\/p>\n

Smith, an ’06-born Porcupine Plain, SK native, finished second on the team in scoring by a defender with 16 goals and 55 assists for 71 points in 65 games played. The Anaheim Ducks prospect recorded 24 powerplay points with 259 shots on goal, second-most on the team behind only DuPont. His +65 defensive rating ranked best amongst all WHL skaters this season. Smith also broke the Silvertips franchise record for career points by a defender, passing Kevin Davis’ mark of 174.<\/p>\n

EVERETT, Wash. —<\/strong> Everett Silvertips goaltender Raiden LeGall has been named a finalist for the Doug Wickenheiser Memorial Trophy for Western Hockey League Humanitarian of the Year.<\/p>\n

LeGall, an ’06-born Morden, MB native, raised over $14,000 for mental health support through his “Another Brick in LeWall” campaign. His initiative benefitted\u00a0a pair of organizations: Camp Erin, a Washington-based bereavement camp for children who have lost a loved one; and Eden Health Services in his home province of Manitoba. After procuring the rights to Lego iconography from Bricks & Minifigs and TRUE Hockey for the rights to LeGall\u2019s goalie pad design, Raiden sold shirts, hoodies and stickers with his LeWall design from November to February through the organization and the Silvertips Booster Club. Additionally, Raiden and the team auctioned off a game-worn jersey of former Silvertips goaltender David Reekie, who tragically died in October 2025 after a battle with mental health.<\/p>\n

LeGall’s charitable endeavor was inspired by his goalie coach Tim Morison, who dealt with depression after he and his wife Nikki had a stillborn son in 2022. Morison credited Raiden, who he\u2019s trained with since he was nine years old, for helping him through the devastating time. The Morisons two-year-old daughter Mylah\u2019s middle name is Rae, after Raiden.<\/p>\n

The \u201cBrick in LeWall\u201d campaign culminated in a special check presentation on Feb. 27, with participation from the Kamloops Blazers and their netminder Logan Edmonstone for a unique Goalie Ceremonial Faceoff.<\/p>\n

On top of his LeWall initiative, Raiden has been an active member of the immediate Everett community, from spearheading an assembly and floor hockey demonstration at Evergreen Academy Elementary School, to guest coaching Seattle Jr. Totems youth hockey, to judging the Great Small Dog Trial Races at the local pet store Sam\u2019s, to being a top earner at the Tip-A-Tip raffle fundraiser at El Paraiso Mexican Grill raising nearly $2,700.<\/p>\n

EVERETT, Wash. —<\/strong> Everett Silvertips general manager Mike Fraser has been named a finalist for the Lloyd Saunders Memorial Trophy for Western Hockey League Executive of the Year.<\/p>\n

Fraser, in his eighth season with the organization and second as general manager, helped lead the Tips to a 57-8-3 regular season record, surpassing a franchise record and tying a league-best for wins in a 68-game schedule. Having served as head scout, assistant general manager and general manager in his tenure, Fraser has left an indelible mark on the construction of now back-to-back Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy-winning Silvertip teams.<\/p>\n

This season alone, Fraser has swung important trades acquiring Philadelphia Flyers draftee Luke Vlooswyk and Kayd Ruedig to bolster the defensive corps, while also signing Mattias Uyeda mid-season. Fraser also identified a need for a second goaltender early in the year, trading for Anders Miller who would go on to post a 31-5-0 record with a .914 save percentage and 2.30 goals-against average this season. Forward lines saw the arrival of overager Rylan Gould, who notched 50 points in 53 games played, as well as the signing of key depth free agent signings to shore up the future such as Hunter Rudolph (’08) and Henri Ament (’07).<\/p>\n

Fraser continued the team’s success in Import Draft acquisitions as well, trading up to pick Matias Vanhanen, who led the team in scoring with 87 points in 62 games played.<\/p>\n

EVERETT, Wash. —<\/strong> Everett Silvertips head coach Steve Hamilton has been named as a finalist for the Dunc McCallum Memorial Trophy for Western Hockey League Coach of the Year.<\/p>\n

Hamilton, in his second season behind the bench of the Silvertips, set franchise and league records. Posting a 57-8-3 record (117 points), the team surpassed the previous franchise mark for wins (54) and tied the 2022-23 Winnipeg Ice for most wins in a 68-game schedule in league history. With a 29-5-0 record on the road, the Silvertips also set a 68-game schedule record for most road wins and tied the overall Internet Era record, equalling the 2014 Kelowna Rockets and 2013 Portland Winterhawks.<\/p>\n

The Silvertips finished with the league’s fourth-best powerplay at 30.0% and fourth-best penalty kill at 80.2%. The team ranked best in the Western Conference and third-overall in goals-for (304) and best in the Western Conference and second-overall in goals-against (173).<\/p>\n

Hamilton has captured the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy for best regular season record in the WHL back-to-back seasons.<\/p>\n

Other Western Conferencce nominees for the Dunc McCallum Memorial Trophy include Fred Harbinson (Penticton) and Mark Lamb (Prince George).<\/p>\n

EVERETT, Wash. —<\/strong> The Everett Silvertips have signed 2010-born forward Henry Meier to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.<\/p>\n

“I’m very excited to join the Silvertips for next season,” commented Meier. “I’m looking forward to meeting the team and winning a Memorial Cup together. I’m super pumped to get started.”<\/p>\n

Meier, a Woodbury, MN native, was originally picked 19th-overall in the 2025 U.S. Prospect Draft. The 5-foot-11, 165-pound forward spent the 2025-26 season with Shattuck St. Mary’s 16U team posting 25 goals and 35 assists for 60 points in 50 games played, helping lead Shattuck to 16U Nationals. He previously logged 33 goals and 27 assists in 58 games played at the 14U level in 2024-25, also qualifying for the 14U National tournament.<\/p>\n

“It’s exciting for our organization to officially have Henry and his family on board,” said Silvertips general manager Mike Fraser. “His progression and development since last year’s draft has been impressive and we look forward to seeing him continue his journey in Everett soon.”<\/p>\n

“Henry is an excellent addition to our organization,” commented Director of Scouting Brooks Christensen. “We believe he aligns well with our style of play as a highly skilled forward, demonstrating strong vision, high hockey IQ and scoring ability. He is a difficult player to play against, and we look forward to seeing him in a Silvertips jersey.”<\/p>\n
