GAME RECAP: Silvertips win goalie duel in Spokane, top Chiefs 2-1
SPOKANE, Wash. — A two-point night by Ben Hemmerling and 34 saves by Tyler Palmer led the way for the Everett Silvertips, as they picked up their third consecutive win in a 2-1 victory at Spokane Arena Friday night.
Hemmerling opened the scoring 2:59 into play in the first period, generating a breakaway and sliding a backhander past goaltender Dawson Cowan for his 18th goal of the season. Jackson Berezowski followed that up in the second period, fielding a pass from behind the net for a point-blank goal, his 34th of the season.
Though the Chiefs cut it to a one-goal game at 12:01 in the third period, Tyler Palmer held firm, stopping 34 of 35 to pick up his 10th win as a Silvertip.
Everett hosts Spokane in a rematch tomorrow night at 6:05 p.m. at Angel of the Winds Arena. The first 1,000 fans through the main gate receive a Silvertips pop-up dog bowl, courtesy of Sam’s Cats & Dogs, Naturally. The Great Dachshund Race will be held during the first intermission.
