Dean DeSilva, from Ayr Ontario, is entering his fourth season as assistant coach of the Everett Silvertips. Primarily working with the Silvertips forwards and power play units focusing on skill development, face offs and video breakdown as well as pre-scout of opponents. Over the three seasons that Dean has worked with the forwards Everett has set 2 new franchise records for goals scored as a team (280 in 21-22 and 296 in 23-24) as well as winning their ninth U.S. Division title in franchise history.
No stranger to the WHL, DeSilva served as an Assistant Coach for the 2019-20 Vancouver Giants (WHL), where he handled video and analytics responsibilities. The Giants clinched a playoff berth prior to the cancellation of the WHL postseason that year.
Prior to his time in the WHL, he coached within the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) for 8 years and named 2009-2010 Coach of the Year. DeSilva was the head coach of the Kitchener Jr. Rangers U16 AAA team for 7 seasons. During his time with the U16 AAA, DeSilva’s teams qualified for the OHL Cup five times and the program had 28 players drafted in the OHL Priority Draft. Dean was also Director of Development with KMHA, 2016 Coach of the Year and 2016 Alliance Hockey Award of Merit for Outstanding Contribution.
He also brings National and International coaching experience.
DeSilva was an Assistant Coach for Team Ontario at the 2019 Canada Winter Games (Silver) held in Red Deer, AB; Assistant coach of Team Canada at the 2016 Youth Olympics (Silver) in Lillehammer Norway; Assistant Coach of Team Canada at the 2011 Three Nations Cup in Helsinki, Finland; twice Head Coach of Team Alliance at the OHL Gold Cup; as well as a camp coach with Hockey Canada at the U17 Summer Development Camp in Calgary, AB.
DeSilva has helped over 50 players reach the NHL, NCAA or USPORTS levels in his career, along with eight players who have played in the World Junior Championship as well as two players who have their name engraved on the Stanley Cup.
