Last of seven meetings this season … the Silvertips sit in first place in the U.S. Division standings with an 18-4-0-0 record while the Thunderbirds are in third place with a 9-11-0-1 record entering Friday’s matchup… the Silvertips posted a 7-3-0-0 record against the Thunderbirds in the 2019-20 regular season… the Silvertips are 92-64-4-7 all-time against Seattle.
U.S. DIVISION TITLE: 8 IS GREAT!
The Silvertips clinched the U.S. Division on May 1 after Tri-City defeated Portland, 3-2 at Veterans Memorial Coliseum … the Silvertips record of 18-4 through 22 games stands as a .818 points percentage, the main criteria to decide the division title this season … it is the Silvertips fourth U.S. Division title in five seasons … they have won nine of their last 10 games.

EVT 5 – SPO 1 (5-07-21): – The Everett Silvertips closed out their home schedule with a dominating 5-1 victory vs. the Spokane Chiefs at Angel of the Winds Arena. Jackson Berezowski recorded two points (1g-1a) and defenseman Gianni Fairbrother tallied two assists as the Silvertips gathered a season-high 45 shots on goal while conversely giving up a season-low 15 shots against. Rookie forward Matthew Ng netted his first career WHL goal 4:12 into the second period and it stood as the eventual game winner. With one game left on the regular season slate, the Silvertips have officially clinched first-place in the US Division to claim their eighth division title in 18 seasons.

1) HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF: Tips’ goaltender Dustin Wolf – the recipient of the WHL Goaltender of the Month award for March – ranks among the WHL leaders in the following categories: tied for 1st in wins (17), 2nd in goals against average (1.84), 2nd in save percentage (0.939), tied for 1st in shutouts (4) … he has 24 career shutouts, moving into sole possession of 2nd place on the WHL and Silvertips all-time list, ahead of Leland Irving and Seattle’s Bryan Bridges. He is three behind the league record shared by former teammate Carter Hart and Vancouver’s Tyson Sexsmith. Wolf broke the team’s franchise record for longest shutout streak of 195:12 on Mar. 26th @ POR, surpassing Carter Hart in franchise history for longest stretch without allowing a goal.
2) STEADY AS SHE GOES, THE DEFENSE NEVER RESTS: The Silvertips as a team boast the second-best goals against average mark in the WHL as the club has surrendered just two goals against per game, only 44 goals against in 22 contests. Defensive leaders Gianni Fairbrother and Ronan Seeley have been steady in anchoring the Silvertips blue line unit. Fairbrother has recorded 17 points (1g-16a) to go along with a plus-7 rating while Carolina Hurricanes prospect Ronan Seeley has amassed 16 points too with (5g-11a) and an impressive plus-16 rating while playing in every game this year.
3) FUN WITH FONSTAD: Team captain Cole Fonstad has recorded a point in 14 consecutive games continuing his very productive season for the Silvertips. He now has 281 points for his WHL career and presently leads the club with 34 points (16g-18a) to go along with a stellar plus-17 mark.
4) ZELLWEGER CLAIMS GOLD: Silvertips defenseman Olen Zellweger suited up for Team Canada and won a gold medal at the 2021 IIHF U18 World Championship in Frisco and Plano, Texas.
