SIGNING: Silvertips ink third-round pick Jesse Heslop to Standard Player Agreement
EVERETT, Wash. – The Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League have officially signed forward Jesse Heslop, third-round selection in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft, to a Standard Player Agreement. Heslop will be available for the Silvertips today against the Spokane Chiefs.
“I’m very excited to be a part of the Silvertips organization,” Heslop said. “I can’t wait to meet all my teammates and to learn as much as I can. I want to thank all of my past coaches and teammates, and my family and friends for their support.”
Heslop, an ’06-born Nanaimo, BC native, was selected 66th overall in the WHL Draft last week. He has skated in 18 games at Yale Hockey Academy in the U17 and U18 levels, notching 18 goals and 23 assists with 12 multi-point performances.
“We’re very excited to have Jesse join our organization,” commented Silvertips head coach and general manager Dennis Williams. “He’s a talented skater who plays a solid two-way game with strong offensive instincts. Jesse fits the mold of being a Silvertip- he competes, battles, relentless on pucks with high character. He’ll have a great opportunity to contribute right away. We’re excited to see him in a Silvertips jersey.”
Heslop arrives at a time where Everett is in need of forward depth, having dressed only nine Saturday night in a 4-1 win over the Seattle Thunderbirds.
The Silvertips have also brought in ’05-born defenseman Logan Greenough from the AEHL’s Calgary Flames 18U AAA. Greenough played in two preseason games with the Silvertips earlier this season. He also fills a need for the Silvertips on the blueline, arriving in Everett a day removed from having just five defenseman dress against Seattle. Greenough is expected to play tonight.
Heslop will wear number 22 for the Silvertips. Greenough will don the number 7.
