Jaxsin Vaughan named 27th captain in Silvertips franchise history

EVERETT, Wash. — Jaxsin Vaughan has been named the Everett Silvertips’ captain for the 2026-27 season.

Vaughan, an overager from Merritt, B.C., is in his third season with the team after being acquired via trade from the Regina Pats in November of 2024. He appeared in all 68 regular season games last year, 16 of 18 Playoff games and all five Memorial Cup contests.

“What an honor,” commented Vaughan. “It’s a pretty historic organization with how well they’ve done in the league. To follow the names that are on our wall in the dressing room is pretty special. I’m going to do my best with it. It’s an honor to lead this group.”

Vaughan served as an alternate captain in the 2025-26 season, accumulating 21 goals and 17 assists with 75 penalty minutes in the regular season. He also contributed four goals and an assist in the Playoffs plus a goal, two assists and 28 penalty minutes in the Memorial Cup. He attended Boston Bruins training camp this fall, the second NHL camp he’s attended having participated in Anaheim Ducks camp in 2024.

“I think it was very, very obvious to the group,” noted head coach Steve Hamilton. “He’s got a maturity about him as a young man. He’s a good leader in the room and does things the right way, which is exactly what you want. You want someone who embodies what it means to be a Silvertip. Jaxsin has always done whatever’s been asked of him and gone over and above to make sure his teammates know that he’s got their back. He’s so valuable in the subtleties of his role. I think he’s a natural leader. Naming him captain was awesome and very fitting.”

Vaughan will play in his 250th career WHL game on Friday, Sep. 25 at home against Wenatchee.
