GAME RECAP: Zellweger racks up four points in 6-3 win over Spokane
EVERETT, Wash. — The Everett Silvertips remained perfect against the Spokane Chiefs in the season series, securing a 6-3 victory at Angel of the Winds Arena Sunday night. Olen Zellweger led the way with four assists on the evening, three coming as primary assists.
Dexter Whittle opened the scoring for Everett just 1:08 into play, fielding an offensive-zone faceoff win and wiring a wrist shot in from the blue line for his second goal of the season. Caden Zaplitny pounced on a rebound just minutes later to give the Silvertips a quick 2-0 advantage.
Nick McCarry lifted a shot from the blueline home to get the Chiefs on the board before the first intermission.
Late in the second period with the Tips on the powerplay, Alex Swetlikoff fielded a rebound between the hashmarks just six seconds into the man advantage to grab his 28th goal of the year. Ben Hemmerling would further pad the Silvertips’ lead at 17:05, roofing a shot over the glove of Chiefs netminder Manny Panghli for his ninth goal of the year.

The Tips and Chiefs would trade goals in the third period, as McCarry picked up his second goal of the game 4:20 into the frame. Minutes later, a sprawling toe-save by Koen MacInnes sprung the Silvertips the other way in transition, as Michal Gut netted his 13th of the campaign.

Though Ty Cheveldayoff once more brought the Chiefs to within two, Austin Roest iced the game with an empty-netter for a 6-3 final.
Koen MacInnes stopped 23 of 26 for his 19th win. The Silvertips improved to 41-10-3-5 on the year, reaching 90 points atop the Western Conference.
Everett will play host to Spokane once more Friday night at 7 p.m. The first 1,000 fans through the main gate will receive a team trading card set. Then on Saturday night, the Silvertips battle the Portland Winterhawks with a special trucker hat giveaway. Tickets are available by clicking HERE.
