GAME RECAP: Silvertips complete sweep with 6-3 comeback in Portland
PORTLAND, Oreg. — The Everett Silvertips completed their Western Conference Quarterfinal sweep, topping the Portland Winterhawks 6-3 in Game Four at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Trailing 2-0 early in the second period, Jaxsin Vaughan grabbed a rebound goal at 6:11 to get the Silvertips on the board. Lukas Kaplan would later tie the game at 14:39, powering a rebound home for his second goal of the series. Landon DuPont gave the Silvertips the lead at 15:53, dangling the Portland defense and sliding a backhander home for his second of the series.
Carrying a 3-2 lead into the third, Zack Shantz provided insurance at 1:12 from Kaplan. Jesse Heslop and Rylan Gould contributed powerplay goals to round out the scoring.
Everett had entered into the series 1-5-2 in playoff games in Portland over the last three years. By winning both road games, they complete their first series sweep in a WHL Playoff since the 2016 Western Conference Quarterfinal- ironically, against the Portland Winterhawks.
Round Two of the WHL Playoffs will commence at Angel of the Winds Arena on Friday, Apr. 10 and Saturday, Apr. 11 (opponent to be determined).
