GAME RECAP: Silvertips blank Winterhawks 7-0 in Game Three
PORTLAND, Oreg. — The Everett Silvertips routed the Portland Winterhawks 7-0 at the Glass Palace, pushing the Hawks to the brink of elimination in the Western Conference Quarterfinal.
Julius Miettinen opened the scoring 13:07 into the first period, converting a breakaway for his fourth goal of the series. Matias Vanhanen struck 48 seconds into the second period, capitalizing on a slick feed from Tarin Smith. Mirco Dufour tapped in a loose puck at 16:34 for a 3-0 Tips lead after two.
Shea Busch scored in his return to the Silvertip lineup, rifling a shot from the boards. Jaxsin Vaughan wired a wrist shot at 8:17, followed by a Landon DuPont snipe at 9:15. Jesse Heslop’s breakaway goal at 10:09 rounded out the scoring.
Anders Miller stopped all 19 in the game.
The Silvertips carry a 3-0 series lead into Game Four tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
