GAME RECAP: Shorthanded Silvertips power past Thunderbirds in 4-1 home win
EVERETT, Wash. — Only nine forwards and five defensemen available? No problem.
The Everett Silvertips downed the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-1 on home ice Saturday night, spurred on by multi-point performances from Beau Courtney, Vince Lamanna, Austin Roest, Jonny Lambos and Niko Huuhtanen.
Beau Courtney opened the scoring just 1:23 into the first period, as Jonny Lambos jumpstarted play in the defensive zone by stripping Seattle’s Matt Rempe of the puck. Austin Roest then found Vince Lamanna up the left wing with a two-line pass, who in turn sent the puck in front of Seattle’s net where Courtney tapped a shot past Thomas Milic.
Niko Huuhtanen extended the lead on the powerplay at 6:55 in the first, wiring a wrist shot through Milic’s five-hole. Later in the second, Jacob Wright would tack on another powerplay goal by deflecting a Lambos shot from the blueline for his sixth of the season. Huuhtanen would tally his second of the game in the third period for his 12th goal in his last 13 games.

Braden Holt stopped 49 of 50 shots for his 11th win of the season- the most saves in a single game this season by a Silvertips netminder.
“We knew we had nothing to lose with the short bench,” said Lamanna, who finished with a pair of assists for his first career multi-point game. “Everybody’s going to get an opportunity, and I think everybody played really well tonight. [Holt] was great tonight…he stood strong.”
🔊 "Everybody was pretty reared up to go tonight. Lot of motivation from last night."
