EVERETT, Wash. — The Everett Silvertips exploded out of the gate in their regular season opener, taking down the Victoria Royals by a 5-3 score.

Robin Sapousek scored the lone tally of the second for Victoria at 6:48 to bring the Royals within one. Alex Edwards was assessed a game misconduct at 10:41 in the second period for an illegal hit from behind on Everett defender Dexter Whittle.
