Royals bounce back for Wild home win
Victoria, BC. — The Victoria Royals hit the ice at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre tonight to close their season series with the Wenatchee Wild. After falling to the Wild in last night’s contest, the Royals bounced back tonight in a strong offensive effort, putting up 35 shots in their 3-1 victory.
Wenatchee opened the scoring with a bounce from Mathias Silaban at 4:08 of the first period. The Royals put several dangerous shots on the Wild’s goaltender through the opening frame, but Wenatchee led 1-0 after 20 minutes of play.
Cruz Waltze went top shelf early in the second, assisted by Timofei Runtso, to tie the game at one. Heath Nelson buried a power play goal just over 10 minutes later, assisted by Odin Vauhkonen, giving the Royals their first lead of the night, which they held into the second intermission.
The Royals held the Wild off through the third period, and Roan Woodward buried an empty-net marker late in the frame, assisted by Hayden Moore and Reggie Newman, to seal the Royals’ 3-1 victory.
