Royals bested by Wild in first of back-to-back
Victoria, BC. — The Victoria Royals returned home tonight to host the Wenatchee Wild in the opening matchup of a back-to-back clash at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre.
The Wild opened the scoring with a breakaway goal from Aiden Grossklaus just before the five-minute mark of the first period. They doubled their lead with a tuck from Zane Saab at 14:05, and the Royals trailed 2-0 headed into the first intermission.
After a scoreless middle frame, Wenatchee notched three straight in the first half of the third period to take a five-goal lead. The Royals got on the board with a goal from Ludovic Perreault at 8:49, assisted by Max Silver, but a power play goal from Caelan Joudrey sealed Wenatchee’s 6-1 win over Victoria.
