Novak, who stands at 6’1, 198 lbs, is a Columbus Blue Jackets prospect who was selected 206th overall in the 7th round of the 2026 NHL Draft. Novak was acquired by Victoria in a trade with the Lethbridge Hurricanes which saw the Royals send 3rd round draft selections in the 2028 and 2030 WHL Prospects Draft for the Chomutov, Czechia based forward.  
This season saw Novak split time with HC Sparta Praha’s Men’s and U20 teams, scoring 35 points (11 goals, 24 assists) in 37 games. Part of the way through the season, Novak was loaned to HC Stadion Litomirice in the Czech second league where he scored six points in ten playoff games.

Novak, who hails from Chomutov, Czechia, is a prospect for the Columbus Blue Jackets in the NHL, having been drafted 206th overall in the 7th round of the 2026 NHL Entry Draft. A product of the HC Sparta Praha system, he spent time this past season with the Men’s and U20 side before being loaned to HC Stadion Litomerice in the Czech 2nd league. Across the leagues this year, he totalled 39 points (11 goals, 28 assists) in 48 games, and scored six points (four goals, two assists) in 10 playoff games.  
“Filip is a dynamic offensive player that we feel will be a key driver in our forward group“ said Royals General Manager Jake Heisinger. “We are very excited to add him to our team”.  
Novak has represented his native Czechia in a variety of international tournaments, including earning a silver medal at the 2024 Youth Olympic Games held in Gangwon Province, South Korea. The 6’1, 198 lbs. forward also played for Czechia at the 2025 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, capping off the tournament by scoring a point per game.

Hailing from Most, Czechia, Peroutka grew up in the HC Litvinov system, playing this season primarily for the U20 team and making his Men’s league debut this past February.

Hailing from Moscow, Russia, Proskurin was drafted by the Blues in the fourth round, 123rd overall. This past season, he appeared in 41 games for MHK Atland Mytischchi in the MHL, Russia’s top junior league, and put up a .921 save-percentage and a 2.97 goals-against-average all while facing over 30 shots per game on average.
“Vlad is a competitor that does whatever he can to make saves and is extremely athletic” said Victoria Royals General Manager Jake Heisinger. “We are very excited to have a goalie of Vlad’s caliber joining our program”.
With the 58th overall pick in the first round, Victoria selected forward Marek Peroutka. Hailing from Most, Czechia, Peroutka played this past season with HC Litvinov, playing primarily for the U20 side while getting some games with the Men’s. In 52 games this season, Peroutka scored 26 goals and 19 assists for 45 points. In those 19 games, Pilon compiled a 4.63 goals-against-average and a .860 save-percentage. Formerly a 8th round selection by the Edmonton Oil Kings in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft, Pilon has appeared in 82 WHL games through his career so far.
Massey, a 5’11, 171lbs. defenceman hailing from Cloverdale, BC, was signed by the Royals following their 2025 Training Camp. In 20 games with the Royals, Massey had 2 assists. In his time with the Royals, Massey spearheaded Cohen’s Fight for a Cure initiative with Crohn’s & Colitis Canada. His efforts helped raise over $6,800 to help those in need. Massey was formerly a 9th round selection by the Portland Winterhawks in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft.
Finley, a 6’0, 176 lbs. forward hailing from Kelowna, BC, was acquired by the Royals in a trade with the Moose Jaw Warriors during the 2025 offseason. In an injury shortened season with Victoria, Finley scored one goal in three games he played. The former WHL champion with Moose Jaw was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2022 WHL Draft by the Warriors.
Schofield, a 6’1, 180 lbs. forward from LaSalle, MB, was signed by the Victoria Royals following the 2024 Training Camp. Over the past two seasons, Schofield appeared in 26 games, 24 of them in the 2025-26 campaign. In this past season, Schofield scored three goals and three assists for six points, including scoring his first WHL goal against the Penticton Vees on November 2nd at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

Kosarev, hailing from Kharkiv, Ukraine, was selected 55th overall in the 2025 CHL Import Draft by the Royals. Following playing 21 games for Victoria, Kosarev signed a professional contract with the Stavanger Oilers in the EliteHockey Ligaen, Norway’s top professional hockey league. In time split between the Men’s and U20 teams for Stavanger, Kosarev scored 10 points in 24 games, as well as winning a gold medal with the U20 side.
Kosarev recently represented his home country of Ukraine in various international tournaments at both the Men’s and U20 level, including scoring four points in five games in the Division 1 A World Junior Championships and collecting a silver medal at the D1A World Championships.
The CHL Import draft takes place Tuesday, June 30th. CHL teams are permitted to have three import players on their roster. ]]>
