Friday and Saturday doubleheader includes annual BC Cancer Foundation fundraiser!

Victoria, BC – The Victoria Royals will host the Vancouver Giants on Friday, January 25th and Saturday, January 26th at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Puck drop for both games is set for 7:05 p.m. Saturday’s game also marks the second annual “Pink in the Rink” game! Proceeds from “Pink in the Rink” will benefit the BC Cancer Foundation (BCCF).
Friday, January 25th
Friday’s game is FortisBC Night! Visit the FortisBC booth in the concourse of Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre where fans can spin a prize wheel for chances to win prizes such as weather stripping, playing cards and toques! Throughout the game, fans can bid on four limited edition pink jerseys the Royals will be wearing when they face Vancouver for “Pink in the Rink” Saturday night by way of a silent auction at Guest Services! Bids will be taken on Alex Gogolev, Jamie Crooks, Steven Hodges and Joe Hicketts’ jerseys on Friday night. Winners will be announced and presented with their jerseys at centre ice immediately following Saturday’s “Pink in the Rink” game with all proceeds going to the BCCF!
The first intermission will be Tim Bits Minor Hockey as presented by 100.3 The Q! which will feature players from Saanich Minor Hockey Association! During the second intermission, FortisBC will present the Energy Conservation Call-Out! Fans in the stands will have the chance to win prizes from FortisBC by correctly answering energy conservation-related trivia.
During the game, fans will be able to purchase tickets for the End of the Roll 50/50 draw and foam pucks for the Old House Village Chuck-A-Puck. Prizes for the evening’s Chuck-A-Puck will include a one-night stay and spa treatment for two courtesy of Old House Village, a Family 4-Pack to the Royal BC Museum and two adult day lift passes from Mount Washington Alpine Resort! Proceeds from the evening’s End of the Roll 50/50 will benefit View Royal Elementary and the Old House Village Chuck-A-Puck will support Free the Children.
Saturday, January 26th – “Pink in the Rink”
Last season, the Royals’ “Pink in the Rink” game raised over $34,000 for the BCCF! The Victoria Royals would like to remind fans that tickets are still available for this Saturday’s game in-person at the Select Your Tickets Box Office, by phone at 250-220-7777 and online at www.selectyourtickets.com. Family Packs of four tickets are available for $55 and include two special edition “Pink in the Rink” scarves and $10 donated back to the BCCF. Corner tickets are on sale for $16 with $3 going back to the BCCF while upper corner tickets are also available for $12 and see $2 donated back to the BCCF. All “Pink in the Rink” ticket offers are open to be purchased until Thursday evening.
In advance of Saturday’s game, the Victoria Royals will be playing a game of shinny at Uptown on Wednesday, January 23rd between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. Fans are invited to Uptown’s “Pink Zone” in P1 underground parking (located below Forever 21) to meet the Royals, play shinny and get player autographs! Marty the Marmot will be on hand as well to hand out prizes including Royals’ tickets and team merchandise!
Sponsors for “Pink in the Rink” include 103.1 JACK FM, 98.5 Ocean, Times Colonist, Seafirst Insurance, Mike’s Hard Pink Lemonade, Uptown and MRI Victoria. The festivities kick off on Saturday night prior to puck drop. Special edition scarves will be for sale upon entrance for a suggested donation of $2 to the BCCF while sales of the Royals’ game night program, “The Blue Line,” will also go towards the BCCF! Mike’s Hard Pink Lemonade will be donating $1 from every drink sold at the game to the BCCF as well.
The choir from Torquay Elementary School will perform O’ Canada before the Royals welcome Dr. Brad Nelson from the BC Cancer Agency for the ceremonial puck drop Saturday night! Throughout the game, fans can bid on four limited edition pink jerseys the Royals will be wearing when they face Vancouver that night by way of a silent auction at Guest Services! Winners will be announced and presented with their jerseys at centre ice immediately following the game with all proceeds going to the BCCF!
Fans can also participate in the “Royals Road Trip Raffle” during Saturday night’s game for a chance to win up to four tickets, accommodation from Accent Inns, gas vouchers from Peninsula Co-Op, food from Old Dutch and beverages from Coca-Cola to see the Royals play on the road! Enter for your chance to see the Royals visit the Kamloops Blazers on Tuesday, March 5th, the Kelowna Rockets on Wednesday, March 6th or the Vancouver Giants on Saturday, March 9th! All proceeds benefit the BCCF.

The first intermission at “Pink in the Rink” will see a local cancer survivor have the chance to shoot 10 pucks into an empty net with Seafirst Insurance donating $250 to the BCCF for every goal scored! The second intermission will give two fans a chance to compete in RBC Crunch Time for the opportunity to win a prize from RBC!
Immediately following the game, fans are encouraged to participate in a live jersey auction where Patrik Polivka, Brandon Magee, Tyler Stahl and Marty the Marmot will raffle their special edition pink jerseys right off their backs!
