Everett strikes three times on the man advantage on route to 5-3 victory over Victoria
Everett, WA – It was the second game in as many days for the Victoria Royals as they traveled south of the border for the first of four matchups on the season with the Everett Silvertips.
Victoria was looking to bounce back following their opening night loss to the Vancouver Giants while the Silvertips were getting into action for the first time this season.
The battle between the pipes featured two 20-year-old goalies who were traded for each other midway through the 2022-23 campaign. Braden Holt got the start for the Royals while Tyler Palmer got the nod for the Silvertips.
It was an exciting opening period of play as the offense stole the show as the Royals and Silvertips combined for six goals in the period.
Everett opened the scoring with a pair of powerplay markers before Victoria stormed back with two goals of their own from Teydon Trembecky and Alex Edwards. The Silvertips would restore their two goal lead late in the first period as they added two goals in the final three minutes.
The middle frame proved to be a parade to the penalty box as Victoria and Everett combined for 22 penalty minutes.
Victoria was able to grab the lone goal of the period as Robin Sapousek notched his first of the season to pull the Royals within one.
The next goal wouldn’t come until the final minute of the game as the Silvertips added an empty netter to seal the fate as they took down Victoria 5-3.
