Ben Edwards Signs WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement
The Victoria Royals are pleased to announce the signing of Ben Edwards to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. The product of Grand Forks, BC., stands at 6’1”and 194lbs.
The last name will be familiar to Royals’ fans as Ben’s twin brother Alex has been a part of the Royals organization for the past two seasons.
Ben suited up in 32 games for the Grand Forks Border Bruins (KIJHL) during the 2022-23 season in which he scored twice and added 17 assists for 19 points.
He spent the 2021-22 campaign with the Kelowna Chiefs (KIJHL) where he tallied three goals and 12 assists for 15 points during his 34 games played.
The 18-year-old brings size and intensity in his game which was evident throughout the Royals 2023 Training Camp.
“Ben plays a competitive, physical game and he will be a good addition to our lineup” said Associate General Manager, Jake Heisinger.
The Royals open the pre-season on Saturday, September 9 on the road as they take on the Prince George Cougars before closing out the weekend on Sunday, September 10 against the Vancouver Giants.
Victoria wraps up the pre-season with a pair of games in the interior as they are slated to take on the Kamloops Blazers on Friday, September 15 before traveling down Highway 97 to take on the Kelowna Rockets on Saturday, September 16.
The Royals open up the 2023-2024 WHL Regular Season on Friday, September 22 against the Vancouver Giants on the road before traveling south of the border to take on the Everett Silvertips on Saturday, September 24.
