Royals drop Tuesday night contest in Prince Albert
Prince Albert, SK. — The Victoria Royals hit the ice at the Art Hauser Centre tonight to face the Prince Albert Raiders in the third game of their Eastern Conference road swing. A strong offensive performance from the Raiders proved a challenge for the Royals, who fell with a final score of 12-2.
The Raiders got on the board first with a power play marker from Justice Christensen at 4:17 of the opening frame, and they doubled their lead with a goal from Brayden Dube just before the halfway mark of the period. A goal from Alisher Sarkenov at 14:34 brought the score to 3-0 to end the first period.
Prince Albert took a four-goal lead with a goal from Aiden Oiring in the opening second of the second period, but the Royals got on the board less than two minutes later with Eli McKamey finding the back of the net off assists from Layne Schofield and Cruz Waltze. Ashton Brown brought the Royals within two with a deflection goal, assisted by Henry Peterson and Cruz Waltze, at 12:13 of the frame. The Raiders responded with a goal from Brandon Gorzynski at 15:30, and the Royals trailed 5-2 after 40 minutes of play.
The third period saw Prince Albert score seven unanswered goals, to bring the final score to 12-2 Raiders.
