Royals Drop Final Pre-Season Game 2-1 to Thunderbirds
Kent, Washington – The Victoria Royals and Seattle Thunderbirds met for the Royals final pre-season game before their regular season opens on September 20th.
Layne Schofield put the Royals on the board at 6:22 of the first period, assisted by Cruz Waltze. The Royals would hold onto the 1-0 lead through the second period.
The Thunderbirds evened the score at one on a goal from Caleb Potter assisted by Vanek Popil and Grayson Malinoski at 6:54 of the third period. Nishaan Parmar gave the Thunderbirds a 2-1 lead less than two minutes later, assisted by Kazden Mathies and Braeden Cootes. The Thunderbirds held on to the lead to defeat the Royals 2-1.
Spencer Michnik saved all 16 shots that he faced, and Ryan Tamelin who entered the game at the 10-minute mark of the second period saved 10 of 12 shots faced.
