Royals bested 7-3 by Broncos
Swift Current, SK. – The Royals finished off the eastern road trip tonight with a showdown against the Swift Current Broncos. The Broncos’ high-scoring third period paved the way to a 7-3 win over Victoria.
Hayden Moore would get things going in the first period, opening the scoring for Victoria on a feed from Nolan Stewart at 8:23. Both sides would add a goal before the first intermission, with Heath Nelson netting a power play marker at 13:43, followed by Broncos Hudson Darby’s at 15:30.
Both teams would trade chances in the second period, but goaltending prevailed until the Broncos broke through at 11:17 with Sawyer Dingman’s ninth goal of the season. The Royals responded swiftly as Nolan Stewart continued his strong stretch of play with a go-ahead goal at 14:51. Swift Current tied the game on a power play goal from Jaxen Gauchier at 19:12, and the second period would come to an end with the score even at 3-3.
The Broncos took their first lead of the game early in the third period on a power play goal from Jace McFaul 3:08 into the frame. Swift Current would tack on three more goals in the period on the way to claiming a 7-3 victory.
