Recap: Royals (7) vs. Rockets (3) – February 4th, 2025
Victoria B.C. — The Victoria Royals hosted the Kelowna Rockets at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre tonight for their sixth meeting of the regular season, and the first half of a back-to-back set.
The Rockets opened the scoring with a shorthanded marker from Jakub Štancl at 3:44 of the first period. Just over one minute later, Markus Loponen netted a powerplay goal to tie the game at one, with Brayden Boehm assisting. The Royals took a 2-1 lead at 9:39 with a one-timer from Teydon Trembecky, assisted by Cole Reschny. A goal from Brayden Boehm at 17:20, assisted by Brandon Lisowsky and Nate Misskey, brought the Royals lead to 3-1 which held until the end of the frame.
Just over one minute into the second period, Kenta Isogai netted a powerplay goal to extend the Royals’ lead to three, Justin Kipkie and Cole Reschny assisted. Soon after at 2:42, Cole Reschny netted a powerplay goal of his own to bring the score to 5-1. At 13:35, Reschny scored his second goal of the night while shorthanded, giving the Royals a 6-1 lead after 40 minutes of play.
Wyatt Danyleyko netted his second goal of the season at 3:34, giving the Royals a six-goal cushion with Keaton Verhoeff assisting. Kalder Varga then netted a goal for the Rockets at 5:07, before Jaxon Kehrig followed with one at 7:45, cutting the Royals’ lead to four. The Royals defeated the Rockets with a final score of 7-3.

What’s Next
The Royals are closing out their two-game set with the Kelowna Rockets tomorrow night, February. 5. The match will be the WHL’s weekly “Wednesday Night in the Dub” game, with puck drop slated for 7:05 pm at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre.
