Recap: Royals (7) vs. Pats (1) – December 3rd, 2024
The Royals were back at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre tonight, continuing their homestand with a game against the Regina Pats. Tonight’s game saw a combined 70 shots, and Victoria beat the Pats 7–1 for the Royals’ first win against Regina since November 2018.
Following an early delay of game penalty against the Pats in the first period, the Royals opened the scoring with a power play goal at 4:35 from Teydon Trembecky, assisted by Cole Reschny and Brayden Boehm. At 10:17, Keaton Verhoeff took advantage of another power play, putting one past Regina’s goalie with assists from Hayden Moore and Nate Misskey to extend the Royals’ lead to two heading into the second period.
In the second frame, Brayden Boehm took advantage of another early-period power play with a goal at 1:39, assisted by Cole Reschny and Hayden Moore, to give the Royals a 3–0 lead. The middle of the second period saw the Royals kill a four-minute penalty, but Regina finally got on the board at 12:55 with a goal from Tye Spencer. Victoria would hold the two-goal cushion to head into the third frame leading 3–1.
The Royals maintained momentum in the third period, with Caleb Matthews scoring at 8:38, assisted by Nolan Stewart and Hayden Moore, followed by Justin Kipkie scoring less than a minute later with assists from Brayden Boehm and Teydon Trembecky. Brayden Boehm got his second goal of the game at 11:40, assisted by Cole Reschny and Teydon Trembecky, to bring the score to 6–1. Victoria expanded the lead further just after the 14-minute mark of the third frame, with Hayden Moore getting one in with assists from Nolan Stewart and Caleb Matthews. The Royals would hold the Pats off for the remainder of the period, securing the 7–1 win.
