Kennewick, WA. — The Victoria Royals and Tri-City Americans clashed for the fifth game of their first round series tonight at the Toyota Center.
Wyatt Danyleyko opened the scoring at 5:35 of the first period, assisted by Kenta Isogai and Caleb Matthews. Brayden Boehm extended the Royals’ lead at 9:26 of the period, assisted by Cole Reschny and Keaton Verhoeff. At 16:32, Teydon Trembecky increased the Royals’ lead to 3-0, as Cole Reschny and Kenta Isogai picked up the assists. The Royals led 3-0 after 20 minutes.
Less than one minute into the second period, Kenta Isogai increased the lead to four on the power play, assisted by Cole Reschny and Nate Misskey. Brandon Lisowsky extended the Royals’ lead to 5-0 with a power play goal at 4:10, assisted by Cole Reschny and Justin Kipkie. The Royals held a 5-0 lead heading into the second intermission.
In the final frame, Brayden Boehm extended the lead and netted his second of the evening on the power play at 15:09, assisted by Markus Loponen and Keaton Verhoeff. In the final minute, Jerrett Ross scored his first WHL goal at 19:43, sealing the victory. Hayden Moore and Keaton Verhoeff notched assists on the goal. Johnny Hicks stopped all 35 shots he faced to earn his second career WHL shutout. The Victoria Royals defeated the Tri-City Americans 7-0 to advance to the second round of the WHL playoffs.
