Victoria, B.C. — The Victoria Royals were at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre tonight to host the Prince George Cougars in the first matchup of their two-game weekend series.
The Cougars opened the scoring with a goal from Terik Parascak at 8:33 of the first period. Caleb Matthews scored the equalizer in the last three minutes of the frame, assisted by Hayden Moore and Cosmo Wilson, to knot the game at one going into the second period.
Justin Kipkie netted the Royals’ go-ahead goal at 4:27 of the second period, assisted by Cole Reschny and Kenta Isogai. Their lead was extended with a goal from Hayden Moore less than two minutes later, assisted by Caleb Matthews and Nolan Stewart, to bring the score to 3-1 after 40 minutes of play.
Just over one minute into the third frame, Brandon Lisowsky scored, assisted by Markus Loponen, to give the Royals a three-goal lead. At 7:02 of the period, Cosmo Wilson extended the lead, assisted by Nate Misskey and Wyatt Danyleyko. The Cougars responded with goals from Aiden Foster at 11:21 and Villiam Kmec at 14:45, but the Royals held the lead to secure the 5-3 win
