Spokane, WA – This evening, the Victoria Royals and Spokane Chiefs clashed for the season’s second matchup at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.
Victoria silenced the home crowd as Teydon Trembecky gave the Royals an early lead on the power play at 10:09 of the first period, assisted by Justin Kipkie and Kenta Isogai. Less than five minutes later, the Chiefs evened the game with Berkly Catton scoring the tying goal on the power play at 14:28, assisted by Andrew Cristall and Brayden Crampton. The Royals and Chiefs were tied at one apiece after the first 20 minutes.
Reggie Newman netted a goal at 3:41 of the second period, with assists from Landon Young and Brandon Lisowsky, bringing the score to 2-1 for the Royals. Kenta Isogai added to the Royals’ lead at the 10:41 mark of the period, assisted by Justin Kipkie and Cole Reschny. Kenta Isogai’s second goal of the game extended the Royals’ lead to 4-1 at 14:34 of the frame, with assists from Cole Reschny and Teydon Trembecky. Spokane’s Berkly Catton responded with his second goal of the evening at 17:50, assisted by Shea Van Olm and Andrew Cristall. The Royals led the Chiefs 4-2 after two periods of play.
In the third frame, Shea Van Olm brought the Chiefs within one just 39 seconds into the period, assisted by Andrew Cristall and Brayden Crampton on the power play. Brayden Crampton tied the game at 4-4 at the 14:11 mark of the third period, assisted by Berkly Catton and Shea Van Olm. At the end of regulation, the Victoria Royals and Spokane Chiefs remained tied, forcing overtime.
Justin Kipkie won the game for the Royals at 3:17 of overtime, assisted by Brandon Lisowsky and Kenta Isogai on the power play. The Victoria Royals prevailed over the Spokane Chiefs with a final score of 5-4 in overtime.
