Recap: Royals (4) vs. Broncos (5) – Shootout – January 25, 2025
Victoria B.C. — The Victoria Royals hosted the Swift Current Broncos at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre tonight for their first and only meeting of the regular season.
The Royals opened the scoring with a power play goal from Reggie Newman at 7:43 of the first period, assisted by Hayden Moore and Keaton Verhoeff. The Broncos responded with a goal from Trae Wilke less than two minutes later. Brandon Lisowsky scored at 13:01 of the frame to restore the Royals’ lead, assisted by Brayden Boehm, but the Broncos answered back with a goal from Ryan Gould at 15:17. The teams remained knotted at 2 after one period of play.
Teydon Trembecky netted a power play goal at 7:30 of the second period, with assists from Cole Reschny and Justin Kipkie, to bring the score to 3-2 for the Royals. Brayden Boehm extended the lead at 11:39, assisted by Brandon Lisowsky. The Royals led 4-2 after two periods.
The Broncos brought the score to 4-3 early in the third frame with a goal from Carlin Dezainde. After pulling their goaltender for an extra attacker, the Broncos tied the game with a goal from Ryan Gould in the last minute of regulation to force overtime.
Neither team scored in overtime, forcing a shootout.
After four rounds of the shootout, Trae Wilke had the winning goal for the Broncos.

What’s Next
The Royals will play three games on the road before returning to the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre for a mid-week double header against the Kelowna Rockets on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 4th and 5th.
