Spokane, WA – The Victoria Royals clashed with the Spokane Chiefs in a do-or-die Game 6 tonight at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.
Markus Loponen opened the scoring for Victoria on the power play at 4:18 of the first period with a goal, assisted by Reggie Newman. The Chiefs evened the game at 1-1 at 8:43 of the period with a goal from Shea Van Olm. The Royals restored their lead as Teydon Trembecky found the twine at 17:27 of the period. Thirty-one seconds later, Spokane tied the game with a goal from Saige Weinstein. The Royals and Chiefs headed into the first intermission tied at two apiece.
In the dying seconds of the second period, the Chiefs took a 3-2 lead with a marker from Shea Van Olm, his second of the evening. The Royals trailed 3-2 heading into the third period.
In the third frame, Spokane extended their lead to 4-2 as Shea Van Olm completed the hat trick at 1:17 of the third period. Kenta Isogai responded quickly, pulling the Royals within one with a goal at 3:05 of the period. Brandon Lisowsky kept the season alive, tying the game at 4-4 at 16:50 of the third period, Keaton Verhoeff assisted on the game-tying goal. The Royals and Chiefs would remain tied after 60 minutes of play forcing overtime.
After a scoreless first overtime frame, Andrew Cristall played the hero for the Chiefs, scoring the game-winner on the power play at 18:11 to lift Spokane to a 5-4 victory over Victoria. With the win, the Chiefs eliminate the Royals from the 2025 WHL playoffs.
