Spokane, WA – The Victoria Royals opened their second round series against the Spokane Chiefs tonight at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.
Cole Reschny opened the scoring at 19:35 of the first period, giving Victoria the early advantage with an assist from Teydon Trembecky. The Royals took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
Cole Reschny extended the lead and netted his second of the evening at 5:38 of the second period, assisted by Teydon Trembecky and Kenta Isogai. Spokane cut the deficit in half as Cameron Parr scored at 14:31 of the period. The Royals led 2-1 after 40 minutes.
The Chiefs tied it 2-2 at 2:09 of the third on a goal from Sam Oremba. The Royals answered, reclaiming the lead just over a minute later as Teydon Trembecky scored at 3:26, with assists from Kenta Isogai and Justin Kipkie. Spokane tied the game 3-3 at 12:11 of the period with a goal from Andrew Cristall. After 60 minutes of play the Victoria Royals and Spokane Chiefs were deadlocked at 3-3, forcing overtime.
After a scoreless first overtime frame, Rasmus Ekström, on the powerplay, won the game for the Chiefs at 10:35 of the second overtime period. The Spokane Chiefs prevailed over the Victoria Royals with a final score of 4-3 in double overtime and taking a 1-0 series lead.
