Recap: Royals (1) @ Tigers (5) – November 15th, 2024
Medicine Hat, AB – The Royals met the Tigers for the first and only time this regular season on Friday evening when the teams faced off at Co-op Place.
Gavin McKenna put the Tigers up 1-0 with an early goal, 4:21 into the first period. McKenna’s goal was assisted by Oasiz Wiesblatt and Hunter St. Martin. Markus Ruck added to the Tigers’ lead at the 9:14 mark of the period with an assist from Liam Ruck and Jonas Woo. The Tigers held a two-goal lead after 20 minutes of play.
The Royals cut the lead in half on a goal from Nolan Stewart at 5:51 of the second period. Stewart’s goal was assisted by Reggie Newman and Seth Fryer. Just under one minute later, Gavin McKenna regained the two-goal lead for the Tigers with his second of the evening, assisted by Veeti Väisänen. The Tigers would extend their lead when Ryder Ritchie scored at the 13:03 mark of the second period assisted by Bryce Pickford and Oasiz Wiesblatt on the powerplay. The Tigers led the Royals 4-1 after two periods.
Nine minutes into the third frame, Kadon McCann scored creating a four-goal cushion for the Tigers, 5-1. McCann’s goal was assisted by Veeti Väisänen and Josh Van Mulligen. The Medicine Hat Tigers held onto the lead defeating the Victoria Royals with a final score of 5-1.
