Team Matchup
After a hard-fought shootout loss on Teddy Bear Toss night, Victoria bounced back to take a 3-1 victory at the Langley Events Centre. Roan Woodward’s third period hat trick led the way to the Royals’ second win over the Giants this season, bringing their head-to-head record with Vancouver to 2-0-1-1. The Giants (14-17-1-1) have proven time and again that they are not to be taken lightly by the Royals, and this matchup always makes for an exciting watch. Every point counts leading up to the holiday break, and with the history between these teams, every shift and shot could be a game-changer.
Players to Watch
Victoria
Ludovic Perreault – Friday night’s teddy-launcher Ludovic Perreault is one of the stars of this year’s rookie class for Victoria. The 16-year-old lit the Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League on fire last season by racking up 86 points in 44 games to win Forward of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Playoff MVP. Through this first year in the WHL so far, Perreault is tied for fourth on the Royals in goals, alongside his line mate Nolan Stewart, and his three-point night on December 12 was a glimpse of his potential to impact the game and be a key contributor to the Royals’ offence.
Vancouver
Ryan Lin – A highly-ranked prospect for the 2026 NHL Entry Draft, Ryan Lin has been one of the most productive offensive defencemen in the WHL this season. Third in points among blueliners so far, Lin is coming into this matchup fresh off of a five-point game against the Spokane Chiefs, helping the Giants to an 8-4 victory. The Richmond, B.C. product has six points in four games against the Royals this year and is a huge factor for Vancouver both offensively and defensively.
