Royals fall 3-1 to Blades in last minute effort
Saskatoon, SK. – The Royals were back in action tonight to take on the Saskatoon Blades in the second of back-to-back road games. A hard-fought game would see the score tied until the final minutes of the third, where Saskatoon broke through and held on for the win.
After Saskatoon controlled the first ten minutes, Victoria broke through in the second half of the first period. At 13:42 Ludovic Perreault found the back of the net off of a spinning feed from 2026 draft eligible defenceman Timofei Runtso. The Blades didn’t wait long to retaliate as Cooper Williams netted the equalizer just two and a half minutes later.
The second saw a back and forth effort from both sides. The Royals successfully killed off a long 5-on-3 power play, but neither team was able to capitalize throughout the duration of the period . The score remained tied going into the second intermission.
The score remained tied until the final five minutes of the third, when Hayden Harsanyi gave the Blades their first lead of the game at 15:44. Saskatoon would then pick up an extra tally on an empty netter, bringing the final score to 3-1.
