The Kelowna Rockets became the first team in the WHL to punch their ticket to the second round, completing a commanding series sweep of the Kamloops Blazers with a 6-2 victory Wednesday night. Vojtech Cihar led the way once again with two goals, capping off a dominant series in which he recorded six goals and ten points in just four games. Keith McInnis also contributed offensively, picking up a pair of assists in the win.<\/span><\/p>\n

GAME SUMMARY<\/strong><\/p>\n

The opening frame was a very tight checking as the Blazers controlled most of the play. It took just 2:04 for Tommy Lafreniere (1) to capitalize on the powerplay and give Kamloops a 1-0 lead.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kelowna responded late in the period, finding some life before the intermission. Vojtech Cihar (5) buried a rebound at 18:19 to tie the game 1-1, with Tij Iginla and Keith McInnis picking up the assists. Despite the goal, it was an off period for the Rockets, who were outshot 17-8.<\/span><\/p>\n

The second period saw a much stronger push from Kelowna as they flipped the momentum. Hayden Paupanekis (1) struck on the powerplay at 4:06 with a wicked shot to give the Rockets their first lead at 2-1. Keith McInnis and Parker Alcos added assists. Later in the frame, Dawson Gerwing (2) continued his hot streak, scoring for the second straight game at 16:30 to extend the lead to 3-1. Nate Corbet and Hiroki Gojsic were credited with the helpers. The Rockets carried that 3-1 advantage into the second intermission.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the third, Kelowna pulled away for good. Tomas Poletin (1) scored in tight off a turnover from the Blazers goaltender just 4:26 into the period, making it 4-1. Vojtech Cihar then added his second of the night at 6:47 to push the lead to 5-1. The Blazers answered with Tommy Lafreniere\u2019s (2) second of the game to cut it to 5-2, but that was as close as they would get. With under three minutes remaining, captain Carson Wetsch (2) sealed the win\u2014and the series\u2014with a goal at 17:16, assisted by Rowan Guest.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Rockets finished 1-for-3 on the power play, while the Blazers went 1-for-2.<\/span><\/p>\n

Goaltender Harrison Boettiger was solid once again, stopping 31 of 33 shots in the victory. He closed out the series with a perfect 4-0 record, along with an impressive 2.00 goals-against average and a .934 save percentage.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Kelowna Rockets have pushed the Kamloops Blazers to the brink of elimination after a 7-4 win in game three Tuesday Night. Vojtech Cihar continues his dominance with fifteen points in his last six games against the Blazers. Tij Iginla had four points in this one as he continues his hot streak against the Blazers. Rockets goaltender Harrison Boettiger picked up his seventh straight win against the Blazers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kelowna struck first in the opening period as Tij Iginla (4) opened the scoring with his fourth of the playoffs at 6:37. Vojtech Cihar and Mazden Leslie picked up the assists on the goal. The Rockets doubled their lead at 13:05 when Nate Corbet (1) scored his first. Jacob Henderson and Vojtech Cihar picked up the assists on the goal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kelowna made it 3-0 just over two minutes later as Dawson Gerwing (1) wired home a one-timer from the slot at 15:16. Hayden Paupanekis and Hiroki Gojsic picked up the assists on the goal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kamloops responded quickly to start the second period, as Jordan Keller (1) got the Blazers on the board at 0:12. The Rockets answered right back at 3:56 when Tij Iginla (5)\u00a0scored his second of the night. Vojtech Cihar and Nate Corbet picked up the assists on the goal.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Blazers cut into the lead again at 7:39 as Isa Guram (1)\u00a0scored from the high slot. Rhett Ravndahl and JP Hurlbert picked up the assists on the goal.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the third period, Kelowna extended their lead at 2:49 as Vojtech Cihar (4) scored the insurance marker. Tij Iginla picked up the lone assist on the goal. Kamloops answered just 29 seconds later at 3:18, as Ryan Oothoudt (1)\u00a0tipped a point shot. Rowan Guest and Connor Pankratz picked up the assists on the goal to make it 6-2.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Blazers made it a two-goal game midway through the period as Ryan Michael (1) scored on the powerplay at 13:07. Cooper Moore and Ty Coupland picked up the assists on the goal. Kamloops would get another one at 17:26 as Jacob Dumansky (2) would make it a 6-4 game. Kelowna would then get an empty netter from Rowan Guest (1) 17:41. Iginla would pick up the assist to mark his fourth point on the night.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kelowna held firm the rest of the way, backed by a strong 30-save performance from Harrison Boettiger, to secure the 7-4 win.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Rockets now take a 3-0 series lead and sit one win away from advancing to the second round.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Kelowna Rockets took care of business on home ice, earning a 2-0 series lead as the series now shifts to the Sandman Centre in Kamloops. Tij Iginla led the way with a three-point performance, while Vojtech Cihar added a goal and an assist as the Rockets rolled to a 5-1 victory Saturday night over the Kamloops Blazers. Goaltender Harrison Boettiger was stellar once again, stopping 34 of 35 shots and continuing his dominant run against Kamloops.<\/p>\n

The opening period featured fast-paced, back-and-forth hockey, with both teams generating quality chances. Kelowna outshot Kamloops 20-16 in a much more eventful start compared to Game 1, which saw just 10 total shots after the first period.<\/p>\n

Kelowna opened the scoring at 16:44 as Vojtech Cihar (3) continued his strong play against Kamloops, recording his sixth goal in his last three games versus the Blazers. Mazden Leslie and Tij Iginla picked up the assists. The Rockets extended their lead late in the period when Tij Iginla (2) buried a rebound at 19:10 off a Cihar chance, with Parker Alcos adding the secondary assist to make it 2-0 after one.<\/p>\n

In the second period, Jacob Henderson (1) made it 3-0 at 5:45, scoring his first career playoff goal and his first since November 1, 2025, after driving down the right side and beating the Kamloops keeper. Nate Corbet and Hayden Paupanekis were credited with assists. Kamloops responded at 13:23, as JP Hurlbert got the Blazers on the board, cutting the lead to 3-1 heading into the third.<\/p>\n

The Rockets regained full control in the final frame. Captain Carson Wetsch (1), returning from a one-game suspension, scored at 7:32 to restore a three-goal lead, finishing a play set up by Shane Smith and Tomas Poletin. Later in the period, Tij Iginla (3) struck again at 15:43, scoring his second of the night from a sharp angle. Ty Halaburda added an assist on the goal, sealing the 5-1 victory.<\/p>\n

Boettiger was outstanding once again, turning aside 34 of 35 shots. It marked his sixth straight game allowing two or fewer goals, as well as his fifth consecutive win against Kamloops.<\/p>\n

With the win, Kelowna takes a 2-0 series lead and will look to grab a commanding 3-0 advantage Tuesday night in Kamloops.<\/p>\n
