Owen Folstrom’s second WHL season looked nothing like his first and that is precisely the point.<\/p>\n

The 18-year-old right-shot centre from Calgary went from six points in 57 games in 2024\u201325 to 19 points (14G, 5A) in 65 games this season, more than tripling his offensive output. Fourteen goals against WHL-level goaltending, as one of the younger players in the league, is a genuine marker of development.<\/p>\n

Folstrom’s game is built around compete and effectiveness in the hardest areas of the ice. He goes to the net, wins puck battles, and drives through traffic. Neutral Zone Scouting described him as a player who “excels at going to the net, winning puck battles, and driving through traffic” with “excellent skating ability” and “strong edge work” that allow him to get to those areas and stay there. His release is heavy for his age, his defensive awareness is noted as a strength, and his right shot adds flexibility that NHL teams value at the centre position.<\/p>\n

He added a goal in nine playoff appearances and was in the lineup for all three of the Rockets’ Memorial Cup games, a meaningful experience for a player in his second year.<\/p>\n

Folstrom could potentially hear his name called on June 26-27 in Buffalo at the 2026 NHL Draft.<\/p>\n

Hayden, 17, is a 6’7″, 216-pound left-shot defenceman from Calgary, Alberta. Selected by the Rockets with the ninth overall pick in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft, he appeared in 44 regular-season games for Kelowna in 2025-26 and was part of the Canadian Red team that captured gold at the 2025 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.<\/p>\n

“Owen approached us looking for a new opportunity and we were able to find the right deal for both sides. We feel good about what we were able to bring back in return.” said Rockets President & General Manager Bruce Hamilton.<\/p>\n

The Rockets thank Owen for his time with the organization and wish him well in Seattle.<\/p>\n

With the addition of the #33 import pick from Seattle, combined with the #178 pick previously received from Edmonton as part of the Parker Alcos acquisition at the trade deadline, the Rockets head into the 2026 CHL Import Draft holding three selections.<\/p>\n

Dawson Gerwing is not a subtle player. The 19-year-old power forward from Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, stands 6’4″ and 231 pounds, plays in the game’s hardest real estate every shift, and has drawn the attention of NHL organizations because of it.<\/p>\n

Gerwing posted 24 points (11G, 13A) with 127 penalty minutes across 63 regular season games in 2025\u201326, adding two goals in nine playoff appearances and suiting up for all three of the Rockets’ Memorial Cup games. His value goes well beyond the point totals. He drives to the net, wins board battles, applies relentless pressure on opposing defencemen in the offensive zone, and makes the team around him genuinely harder to play against. Neutral Zone Scouting described him as a player who “excels in his role as a net-front presence, consistently bringing energy and compete to every shift,” with the ability to “leverage his size and speed to deliver punishing hits when in stride.”<\/p>\n

For a player his size, he moves well, effective in the forecheck, capable of getting to the right spots, and physical enough to stay there once he arrives.<\/p>\n

This is also not Gerwing’s first appearance on the NHL radar. NHL Central Scouting ranked him 99th among North American skaters ahead of the 2025 Draft. Following 2024\u201325, the Los Angeles Kings invited him to their Development Camp. He impressed enough to earn a return invitation to their Rookie Camp alongside Rockets teammate Nate Corbet.<\/p>\n

KELOWNA, BC<\/strong> \u2014 The Kelowna Rockets have signed 2007-born defenceman Dane Sorensen to a WHL Scholarship & Development Agreement. Earlier this offseason, the Rockets acquired Sorensen’s rights from the Victoria Royals.<\/p>\n

Sorensen, 19, is a 6’1″, 183-pound left-shot defenceman from Los Angeles, California. He spent the 2025-26 season split between the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL and the Brooks Bandits of the BCHL.<\/p>\n

In Sioux Falls, the blue-liner established himself as a physical presence, posting 91 penalty minutes in 41 games. After moving to Brooks, he recorded a goal and eight assists for nine points in 12 regular-season games before taking his play to another level in the postseason. Sorensen added a goal and four assists for five points and 32 penalty minutes in 13 playoff games, averaging close to 19 minutes a night during the Bandits’ championship-clinching final series against the Nanaimo Clippers, helping Brooks claim the 2025-26 BCHL title.<\/p>\n

The season prior, Sorensen won the US 18U National Tier I Championship with Shattuck-St. Mary’s 18U Prep, giving him back-to-back championship seasons entering his WHL career.<\/p>\n

Sorensen’s path to this point runs through one of the most respected development programs in North American hockey. He spent five seasons at Shattuck-St. Mary’s from the 14U AAA level through the 18U Prep program, accumulating 261 games of experience and consistent growth at each level before stepping into junior hockey. That foundation has produced a player who is reliable and detailed in his own end, strong on the puck, physical in front of the net, and difficult to play against. He is an effective penalty killer who uses his size, leverage, and active stick to disrupt opponents’ plays. While his defensive game is his calling card, he has shown the ability to contribute offensively and move the puck efficiently out of his own zone.<\/p>\n

“Dane is the type of defenceman that makes your team harder to play against,” said President & General Manager Bruce Hamilton. “He’s physical, he competes every shift, and he has a high hockey IQ in his own end. The experience he has from winning championships in back-to-back seasons tells you about the competitor he is. We are excited to get him to Kelowna.”<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old defenceman from Calgary posted 14 points (3G, 11A) with a plus-15 rating across 49 regular season games in 2025\u201326, averaging 16 minutes of ice time per night with significant penalty kill responsibility. In the playoffs, he added four points in nine games. His game is built on compete, physicality, and sound puck management. He retrieves pucks effectively, makes reliable first passes under pressure, and makes the team around him harder to play against on every shift.<\/p>\n

Neutral Zone Scouting called him “a reliable physical presence on the ice, consistently delivering an energetic effort in every shift,” noting his effectiveness protecting teammates and pushing back defensively in front of his own net.<\/p>\n

After the 2024\u201325 season, Corbet was invited to the Los Angeles Kings Development Camp. He impressed enough to earn a second invitation, this time to the Kings’ Rookie Camp and main training camp the same year. Being brought back to a full NHL camp is not a formality. It reflects genuine organizational interest, and Corbet earned it the same way he earned his letter in Kelowna: by being the kind of player coaches and teammates trust.<\/p>\n

Iginla, 19, from Lake Country, B.C., produced one of the most dominant individual seasons in the WHL in 2025-26, recording 41 goals and 49 assists for 90 points in just 48 regular-season games. His 1.88 points per game led all WHL skaters and ranked second across the entire CHL. He was one of only five players across all three CHL leagues to top both the 40-goal and 40-assist marks this season, and his 90 points represented new career highs in both assists and points.<\/p>\n

The 20-year-old defenceman from Saskatoon went from 10 points in 64 games the year before to 25 points in 64 games this season, the same number of games played, more than double the output, while anchoring the Rockets’ top pair and averaging 20 minutes and 11 seconds of ice time per night.<\/p>\n

At 6’5″ and 209 pounds, Guest commands presence in the defensive zone. He finishes checks, wins board battles, and manages traffic in front of his goaltender with discipline and consistency. Neutral Zone Scouting described him as a player who “defends with discipline and reliability, making effective plays at the blue line,” while also showing “patience and poise with the puck” and the ability to make steady passes to exit the zone under pressure.<\/p>\n

The offensive growth this season came from an improved read of the game knowing when to jump, when to hold, and how to support possession without overcommitting. Twenty-four assists from the back end on a Memorial Cup host team reflect a defenceman who understands his role and continues to expand it.<\/p>\n

Guest carried his regular season form into the playoffs, posting four points in nine games before suiting up for three Memorial Cup appearances.<\/p>\n

Harrison Boettiger entered his draft year as one of the most closely watched goaltenders in the 2026 class, and his season in Kelowna only strengthened that case. The 18-year-old from Wheat Ridge, Colorado, posted a 2.83 GAA and .911 save percentage across 41 regular season games, finishing top ten among WHL goaltenders in wins, GAA, and save percentage before adding eight playoff appearances and two Memorial Cup starts.<\/p>\n

Boettiger is a positional goaltender whose game is built on intelligence and process. He stays square with shooters, uses strong edgework to make micro-adjustments, and projects his hands outward to cut down angles before shots are released. His post-integration is clean, his transitions in and out of the RVH are sharp, and he is a constant scanner, reading plays before they develop and moving accordingly. EliteProspects ranked him the smartest goaltender in the entire 2026 class in their scout poll, with a second-place finish for highest floor. The Hockey News placed him among the top five goaltenders available. NHL Central Scouting ranked him 10th among North American goalies.<\/p>\n

His pedigree was strong coming in. A silver medal at the 2023 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge and a bronze at the 2024 IIHF World Under-18 Championship preceded his year with the Rockets. He described his own game simply: “I want to give my team a sense of safety back there. I like to rely on my positioning and my skating to hit my spots and be there on time.”<\/p>\n

On draft weekend in Buffalo, June 26\u201327 Boettiger is broadly projected as a second- or third-round selection and one of the first goaltenders off the board.<\/p>\n
