Rockets prepare for busy weekend
The Kelowna Rockets have the week off as they prepare for a weekend packed with three games in as many days.
Kelowna picked up two important wins over the weekend as they downed the Spokane Chiefs 4-3 in a shootout Friday night and shutout the Kamloops Blazers 2-0 Saturday night at home.
With the week off, the team will prepare for a busy weekend that has them heading to Vancouver to face the Giants Friday night before returning home to host the Portland Winterhawks Saturday and Sunday.
Head Coach, Adam Foote says that the first few days of the week will be lighter at practice.
“The guys deserve a bit of a break after these last two games,” said Foote. “What we’re going to do different, because I haven’t liked our games after these gaps, what we’re going to do is break down into smaller groups. We’ll work more on skills, so we don’t tire them out or have them get bored.”
The players will also be busy with a few community events this week. Tonight the Rockets players host the volunteers who work the game for their annual appreciation dinner. They’ll also visit local elementary schools on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday playing floor hockey, reading to students and answer questions.
Tickets are still available for both games against the Portland Winterhawks this weekend. Come cheer on the Rockets as they battle Winterhawks and the WHL’s leading scorer, Joachim Blichfeld. Tickets are on sale at selectyourtickets.com, at the Prospera Place box office or by phone at 250-762-5050.
