Rockets victorious on Hat Trick Wednesday
The Kelowna Rockets certainly missed home after a long road trip. Playing their first home game since November 3rd, the Rockets defeated the Regina Pats 3-2 Wednesday night at Prospera Place.
Kyle Crosbie(3) established an early lead for the Rockets, just 2:15 into the game. Mark Liwiski dug the puck out of the corner and dished a pass in front of the net to Crosbie who put it past Pats starter, Dean McNabb. The two teams went back and forth throughout the period, but Crosbie’s goal was the only one to be scored. The Rockets headed into the first with a 1-0 led.
Riley Krane was called for high sticking 7:54 into the middle frame, the Rockets power play then went to work for the third time in the game. Nolan Foote(14) fired a wrist shot from the top of the right circle to capitalize on the man advantage 8:12 into the second, giving the Rockets a 2-0 lead. Pats Captain, Jake Leschyshyn cut into the Rockets lead when he snapped a shot that past Rockets starter, Roman Basran 13:00 minutes into the period. Regina’s Austin Pratt was called for interference towards the end of the second period, the Rockets power play went back to work for the fourth time in the game. Liam Kindree rescued the puck from the faceoff passing it back to Lassi Thomson; he passed it off to Nolan Foote(15) who wristed home his second goal of the night the night. After 40 minutes the Rockets lead the Pats 3-1.
The only goal during the third period came with 59 seconds remaining in the game. Regina’s Aaron Hyman(5) brought the Pats within one while on the power play and their net empty. The Rockets were able to hold off the Pats throughout the final minute of the game to skate away with a victory.
Kelowna’s record jumps to 10-13-1-0.
Roman Basran’s record moves to 8-8-1-0, he turned aside 23 of the 25 shots he faced. The Rockets outshot the Regina Pats 31-25.
The Rockets are back in action Friday, November 23rd when they host the Victoria Royals before heading on the road to face the Everett Silvertips on Saturday. Tickets are on sale at selectyourtickets.com, at the Prospera Place box office or by phone at 250-762-5050.
