RECAP: Rockets snap losing skid with win over Everett
The Kelowna Rockets snapped their four-game losing streak with a 5-2 victory over the Everett Silvertips at the Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett, WA.
Gabriel Szturc was named the game’s first star after netting a pair of goals, while Rockets goaltender Jari Kykkanen made 44 saves to earn second-star honours.
GAME SUMMARY
Former Silvertip Max Graham (4) gave the Rockets their first lead of the weekend with a power play goal 8:52 into the game. Standing at the side of the Silvertips net, Gabriel Szturc (9) snapped a seven-game goalless drought late in the first period.
Ryan Hofer (15) capitalized on the power play 55 seconds into the second period. Rockets captain Colton Dach (8) out-deked Braden Holt to restore the two-goal lead. Everett appeared to pull back within one, but the goal was waived off after it was reviewed for offside. Ben Hemmerling (9) would eventually make it a one-goal game with a power play marker. Szturc (10) capitalized on the power play, wiring a one-timer past Holt.
Dach (9) scored his second of the night, potting the empty net goal.
