Q&A with Pavel Novak
The Kelowna Rockets selected Novak 13th overall in the first round of the 2019 CHL Import Draft earlier this summer. Last season while playing with Motor Ceske Budejovice U19, he suited up for 31 games, recording 29 goals and 16 assists for 45 points. We chatted with the 2002 born forward to get to know him a little better.
Kelowna Rockets: When did you start playing hockey?
Pavel Novak: I was skating for the first time when I was two years old.
Kelowna Rockets: What made you want to play hockey?
Pavel Novak: My dad played hockey. He is my role model.
Kelowna Rockets: Which NHL player do you think you play most like?
Pavel Novak: David Pastrňák.
Kelowna Rockets: Who is your favourite NHL team?
Pavel Novak: Boston Bruins.
Kelowna Rockets: Favourite kind of music?
Pavel Novak: Czech songs.
Kelowna Rockets: What is your favourite food?
Pavel Novak: Steak with american potatoes. We have great meals in the Czech Republic.
Kelowna Rockets: What was your reaction when you heard that the Rockets had drafted you during the CHL Import Draft?
Pavel Novak: I was very happy. It’s a great organization. I’ve heard all the positive things about Kelowna.
Kelowna Rockets: What type of player are you?
Pavel Novak: I like to score goals, create chances. I like it in the offensive zone.
