Tomas Poletin Rejoins Rockets Ahead of Home Opener
KELOWNA, BC — The Kelowna Rockets announced today that forward Tomas Poletin has been reassigned to the club by the New York Islanders.
Poletin, 19, attended Islanders Rookie Camp and remained with the organization through the early stages of NHL preseason action. He appeared in New York’s preseason game on Sunday before being reassigned to Kelowna.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound left winger is expected to be available for the Rockets’ upcoming home-and-home series against the Penticton Vees.
Poletin is coming off a strong first season in the Western Hockey League after being selected by Kelowna first overall in the 2025 CHL Import Draft. The Prague, Czechia product recorded 20 goals and 15 assists for 35 points in 43 regular-season games with the Rockets in 2025-26 before adding two goals and three assists in nine playoff contests.
The New York Islanders selected Poletin in the fourth round, 106th overall, of the 2025 NHL Draft.
Poletin also represented Czechia at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, where he recorded four goals and two assists for six points in seven games and earned a silver medal.
Prior to joining the Islanders for camp this fall, Poletin suited up for Czechia at the U20 Five Nations Tournament, finishing with two goals and two assists for four points in four games.
With Poletin returning to Kelowna, the Rockets add another experienced offensive piece ahead of a busy weekend against Penticton. In 8 games against the Vees last season, Poletin recorded 5 goals and 1 assist for six points. He looks to haunt the Vees one again this weekend.
Kelowna travels to the South Okanagan Events Centre on Friday, September 25 before returning home to Prospera Place on Saturday, September 26 for the Rockets’ 2026-27 Home Opener and the next chapter of the Battle of the Okanagan.
