Payworks Recap: Rockets fall to Blazers in shootout again
For the second consecutive game, the Kelowna Rockets fell to the Kamloops Blazers in a shootout. The Blazers outlasted the Rockets in the skills competition, to take the game 3-2 on Friday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, BC.
Colton Dach recorded both of the Rockets goals in regulation, while Talyn Boyko stopped 36 of the 38 shots he faced through 65 minutes of action.
Matthew Seminoff was the only successful shooter in the three-round shootout.
Pavel Novak’s opening goal early in the first period was waved off due to goaltender interference. Moments later Quinn Schmiemann (12) got the Blazers on the board first with a power play tally. Colton Dach (20) responded for the Rockets with his own power play goal, picking off the top corner of the net.
Dach (21) gave the Rockets the first lead of the game 22 seconds into the second period when Andrew Cristall set him up in front of the Blazer net. The Blazers clawed back with a goal from Connor Levis (14).
The Rockets shot first in the shootout. Colton Dach (X), Gabriel Szturc (X), and Pavel Novak (X) fired for the Kelowna.
Connor Levis (X), Logan Stankoven (X), Matthew Seminoff (goal) were all shooters for Kamloops.

Kelowna outshot Kamloops 39-38.
The Rockets were one-for-three with the power play, while the Blazers were one-for-five with the man advantage.
The two will face each other again tomorrow in Kamloops, puck drop is set for 7:00 pm at the Sandman Centre. You can watch the game on CHL TV or listen on AM1150.
The Rockets next home game is Saturday, March 26th when Kelowna will host the Kamloops Blazers for their 14th and final meeting of the regular season.
