Foote and Team WHL take series lead in CIBC Canada Russia Series
Kelowna Rockets assistant captain, Nolan Foote and his Team WHL teammates were victorious over Russia in the opening game of the 2018 CIBC Canada Russia Series Monday night in Kamloops.
In a tightly matched game, Team Russia outshot the WHL 28-23. However, Team WHL came away with a 2-1 win.
Lethbridge’s Dylan Cozens gave the WHL the lead 14 minutes into the first, Russia’s Pavel Shen responded for Russia just 26 seconds later.
Another Lethbridge Hurricane scored for Team WHL. Jordy Bellerive put home the game-winner at 10:31 in the third.
Prince Albert’s Ian Scott turned aside 26 shots for the WHL team. Russia’s Daniil Tarasov made 21 saves.
Foote was held off the scoresheet but showed off his shot firing once on the Russian net. He went 50 percent in the faceoff dot and had two penalty minutes.
Nolan and Team WHL play game two against Russia tonight, November 6th in Vancouver. You can watch the game on Sportsnet at 7 pm PT.
