Nate Corbet was an alternate captain on a Memorial Cup host team, kills penalties in the league’s most demanding defensive situations, and went to NHL training camps both years prior. That combination says a lot about who he is as a player and a person.
The 20-year-old defenceman from Calgary posted 14 points (3G, 11A) with a plus-15 rating across 49 regular season games in 2025–26, averaging 16 minutes of ice time per night with significant penalty kill responsibility. In the playoffs, he added four points in nine games. His game is built on compete, physicality, and sound puck management. He retrieves pucks effectively, makes reliable first passes under pressure, and makes the team around him harder to play against on every shift.
Neutral Zone Scouting called him “a reliable physical presence on the ice, consistently delivering an energetic effort in every shift,” noting his effectiveness protecting teammates and pushing back defensively in front of his own net.
After the 2024–25 season, Corbet was invited to the Los Angeles Kings Development Camp. He impressed enough to earn a second invitation, this time to the Kings’ Rookie Camp and main training camp the same year. Being brought back to a full NHL camp is not a formality. It reflects genuine organizational interest, and Corbet earned it the same way he earned his letter in Kelowna: by being the kind of player coaches and teammates trust.
