Tigers Win Game One Over Rebels 2-1
MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Red Deer Rebels started off the 2015 Western Hockey League playoffs with an exciting game with the Medicine Hat Tigers, it was the Tigers getting the win, the final score 2-1 for Medicine Hat. The Tigers lead the best of seven first round series 1 game to nothing.
The Tigers with the only goal of the first period, Kyle Becker picked up a rebound to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. That was the score after 20 minutes.
In the second period, the Tigers scored on the power play, Cole Sanford with a screened shot that found its way into the top corner, it was 2-0 Tigers after two periods.
In the third period, Grayson Pawlenchuk banged home a rebound to get the Rebels to within one, the assists to Scott Feser and Colton Bobyk. The Rebels pressed in the final ten minutes of the third period but could not beat Tigers goaltender Marek Langhamer for the equalizer.
Langhamer made 31 saves in the Tigers net; Rebels goaltender Rylan Toth also made 31 saves.
Red Deer did not have a power play in the game; the Tigers were 1 for 2 on the man advantage.
Game two of the series goes Sunday, the broadcast on 106.7 The Drive begins at 5:50PM.
Games 3&4 of the series will be in Red Deer. Those games will be Wednesday, April 1st and Thursday, April 2nd both 7:00PM starts at the ENMAX Centrium.
