Rebels Make Blockbuster Deal With Pats
RED DEER, AB – Brent Sutter, General Manager/Head Coach of the Red Deer Rebels Hockey Club, announced today the acquisition of 18-year old forward Lane Zablocki, 16-year old defenceman Dawson Barteaux, a 1st round selection in the 2017 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft, a 1st round selection in either the 2018 or 2019 WHL Bantam Draft and a conditional 3rd round pick in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft in exchange for 18-year old defenceman Josh Mahura, 18-year old forward Jeff deWit, and a conditional 3rd round selection in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft.
Lane Zablocki is in his second year in the WHL, he’s played 105 games, scoring 27 goals and 35 assists for 62 points. He was originally a 5th round pick of the Prince George Cougars in 2013.
Dawson Barteaux is in his first year in the WHL, he’s played 19 career WHL games, and has 2 assists. He was the Regina Pats 1st round pick in 2015.
