Wutzke’s turn for a shutout as Rebels win in Moose Jaw
Another game. Another goalie. Another shutout.
It was Chase Wutzke’s turn to post a clean sheet Saturday night as the Rebels earned a second-straight 3-0 road win, this time over the Moose Jaw Warriors.
Unlike Friday in Regina, the Rebels didn’t find the back of the next until the third period when the broke open a goalless game with three unanswered tallies.
STATS STORY
Chase Wutzke (RD) – 16 saves, shutout win
Noah Miford (RD) – 1st career goal, game winner
Michael Hutchison (MJ) – 31 saves
HOW IT HAPPENED
The first period could be classified as “low-event hockey” as the two teams combined for just 11 shots on goal, eight of them by Red Deer.
There was no scoring in period two, either, but the action did pick up somewhat as the Rebels generated three power plays but were unable to find the back of the net. The hostility between the two teams picked up late in the middle frame when Brady Ness was handed a kneeing major and game misconduct for a hit on Beckett Hamilton, culminating in a centre ice scrap between Samuel Drancak and Max Finley.
It was early in the third period when Noah Milford, playing his fourth game of the season as an affiliated player, put one past Hutchison for his first WHL goal and a 1-0 Rebels lead.
