Wutzke signs amateur try-out contract with Iowa Wild
RED DEER – Red Deer Rebels goaltender Chase Wutzke has signed an amateur try-out contract (ATO) with the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League.
Iowa Wild General Manager Matt Hendricks announced the transaction on Wednesday.
Wutzke, who is 18, posted a 17-25-5 record with a 3.38 goals-against average (GAA), a .895 save percentage (SV%), and one shutout in 50 appearances with the Rebels this season.
The Debden, Saskatchewan native has a 40-35-8 career record with a 3.21 GAA, a .896 SV%, and two shutouts in 93 games with the Rebels. Wutzke went 4-2-1 with a 2.48 GAA and .924 SV% during the 2024 WHL Playoffs.
Wutzke was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the fifth round (142nd overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft. The Rebels selected him in round two, 40th overall at the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft.
